A little bit about this blog

 I love food.

I can’t say this was always true, my mother has many stories of chasing me with a plate of food because I just wouldn’t eat as a kid. Well, all that changed in my 20s. I appreciated food, and variety. As I got older, it proved to be fascinating from yet another perspective – it allowed me insight into the various cultures. Food, especially global cuisine and the cultural nuances/techniques/etc intrigued me. Not only did I want to eat every cuisine I could access, I wanted to cook, to learn how each of these cuisines used the same ingredients and explore completely alien ones.

I am fortunate to have a partner that appreciates food just as much, and together we launched and ran an underground restaurant for many years. While the pop up dinners are behind us, we still enjoy good food and are blessed that our 5 year old does too. From vada pav in Mumbai, sushi in Japan, to pulpo (octopus) in Spain and everything in between she has enjoyed it all and routinely demands these dishes and many more be  made at home.

However there is a world, and a world of food that we haven’t discovered yet. And I would love to teach her to be curious about the world around her, so we came up with the idea – to explore a country each week, alphabetically. Learn a little bit about the country and its people, and a cook a meal representative of them.

My sincere hope is to get all the way from A through Z. Read along and explore the world with us!
